The 77 Year Old Ballet Dancer Sharing Seven Decades Of Experience | Amazing Humans

I started dancing 70 years ago, that’s right.
7 decades as everybody says. Everybody thinks that ballet is a very short
career and I really thought that I was going to be finished in my 20’s. And so now it seems amazing that I am still
dancing at 77. Apparently people think I’m unusual. I love children and I love them to enjoy ballet
and I know some of them will not continue forever but I think ballet teaches more than
just dance. It teaches them respect for each other. For Mrs. Poole to teach us it looks like it’s
so easy but it really isn’t. Well like, she’s just like a great dancer
and someone that I can look up to. And someone that I want to be like when I’m older. No matter how young or old you are you can
still, you know, do the things that you love. She has been dancing for so long and she really
inspires me. In London during the war, we always went to
the ballet and I always loved it. And I really wasn’t very talented or the right build
or anything, the main thing is I had wonderful teachers. Ballet is my life, my husband was my life,
but I don’t have him, but he always encouraged me, he always thought I was a good dancer I provide entertainment for them because they
can’t go out. I think they relate to me because I’m probably older than a lot of
those people. I like doing it and I also try to take children
along. I hope I give the message to the children,
life is too short not to do what you want to do. Whether it’s painting, or ballet or yoga,
whatever they really love to do. It’s never too late. So start doing what you love doing
now.

  2. OMG, When I first saw the picture, I thought, okay, is she en pointe? Yes, now it’s can she really move? Yes, again! Beautiful!!! My daughter danced classical ballet (and jazz, which is great fun) for 14 years and it is the best thing ever for teaching discipline. The older you get, the more it takes (along with mom & dad’s time & money). Lol.If your daughter or son wants to, try to do it! Mine still stays fit, I believe due to this.

  3. This is truly inspiring
I have just started learning ice skating
I am now aged 21, learning the exact same stuff as those 6-7 kids,
sometime it reli makes me frustrated, watching those student, same age as me, performing much higher level skills
I always think, am I too late to start learning ice skating?
But then when I think of those elderly learning ballet at a much higher age that me
(not this video but another elderly who is also reli inspiring)
She said, "If you learn it now, you can enjoy it for the rest of your life"
This reli motivates me to continue learning and working hard

"Life is too short not do what you want" I'll definitely make it my life motto

  4. I cried when people said so much nice to her
I fell bad for her husband to..
    I’m crying… 😱😢😭😭😭😭😭😝

  6. Ok, so this is weird. My mom danced at the San Diego Civic Light Opera and danced with a girl who’s last name was Poole. She was born in America, but her mom had an accent cause she was born in Britain. It gets weirder. So, I started dancing there too and there was a picture on our wall of dancers from past years and I saw one similar to hers when she talked about ending dance careers younger, and I realized it’s the same! So I’m pretty sure this is some crazy weird coincidence cause that’s way too improbable. The only reason it slightly makes sense is cause her students have an American accent, but even that’s not enough proof. What do you think?

  7. if she was born in 1940, how can she remember going to see the ballet during the war? I think this video is a few years older.
I don't like that they made her wear that costume (or agreed to her wearing it), it's sad.
    She looks 90.
I don't mind her being what she is. I resent BBC trying to tell us she is what she is not.

  8. She’s amazing ♥️so beautiful, and cute ♥️ and when she started talking about her husband it made me cry 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

  9. Ame a la señora tanto!!! Definitivamente me gustaría ser como ella cuando tenga su edad, también amo el ballet 🤩❤️ es tan inspiradora

  10. Bravo, bravo,bravo ❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏼
