TIA: Lil Nas X teams up with Big Nas on the
“Rodeo” remix, where he raps about a lover who might leave him. TIA: “Rodeo” first dropped on Lil Nas
X’s debut EP, ‘7’ back in June 2019, and gave fans a taste of a very familiar country-rap
sound following his hit “Old Town Road.” TIA:The track was produced by Take A Daytrip,
the duo also behind Lil Nas’ “Panini.” Our lawyer, David Jacobs…He was like, “Oh,
there’s this new kid, Lil Nas X. He has this like country rap song about horses. Do you want to work with him?” We were like, “Yeah, why not?” TIA: The “Rodeo” visual drops without
the originally featured Cardi B which Lil Nas quickly cleared up tweeting that she
wasn’t free to do the video. TIA: This remix of “Rodeo” brings together
LIl Nas X with the original Nas – a name X caught a lot of flack for that he eventually
addressed saying quote: TIA: And it turns out, his rap name has very
little to do with the hip-hop pioneer, and instead was just his online persona. In an interview he said quote: TIA:And it all worked out in the end as Nas was a surprise guest at Lil Nas’ January
2020 Grammy performance. TIA: And Nas even made an appearance in the
official visual. TIA: The music video was directed by creative duo Bradley & Pablo. Together with Lil Nas X, they created the
video’s storyline, which finds the rapper turning into a vampire and creeping through
a neighborhood. TIA: Lil Nas posted a moodboard of visuals
that inspired the video on Twitter, ranging from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” bloodsucker
classics like “Vampire In Brooklyn” and “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” and
“The Matrix.” TIA: And during his cameo, Big Nas offers
his protege a choice between a red and a blue pill, much like the 1999 film. You take the blue pill, the story ends, you
wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland
and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. TIA: The “Rodeo” music video also features
a bit of visual product placement for Estée Lauder and Doritos, the latter of which Lil
Nas starred in a commercial for during Superbowl LIV. TIA: Overall, fans are hype for a new visual from Lil Nas X, and according to him, with
the release of the new video, we could be expecting a lot of new music coming our way. TIA: If you wanna learn more about “Rodeo,” check out the song page on Genius.com. TIA: I’m Tia with Genius News bringing you
